We started the Anthropology + Technology Conference (A+T) in 2019 to convene a conversation about the need for socially-responsible artificial intelligence. Without a serious examination of the way that biases are being coded into automated decision-making, we risk deepening existing inequality and exclusion. One year on, and in light of the Black Lives Matter movement, that conversation feels more urgent than ever.
This year we have committed to taking concrete action to broaden the diversity and perspectives of attendees. We are sponsoring ten conference tickets for people from underrepresented communities of colour, wherever you are in the world. (The 2020 conference is online.)
To apply, simply fill out the form telling us about your area of interest and how the conference will be of benefit to you, your organisation, or your field. We will award ten free tickets based on the potential positive impact of your attendance.
