Arts Programme Manager, Knowle West Media Centre

As the Arts Programme Manager at Knowle West Media Centre (KWMC), Martha has developed and delivered a wide range of socially engaged, digital and contemporary arts projects as well as facilitated co-design and design thinking processes with communities, academics, NGOs, and industry professionals. She has applied methods of co-creation to explore topics such as data and AI ethics, community-led housing, and participatory sensing.

Martha co-authored the Artists, Data, and Agency in Smart Cities chapter in Big Data in the Arts and Humanities (2018) with Roz Stewart-Hall, and the We Can Make: Co-Creating Knowledge and Products with Local Communities chapter in Co-Creation in Theory and Practice: Exploring Creativity in the Global North and South (2020) with Melissa Mean and Roz Stewart-Hall.

As a freelance producer Martha is also one of the co-curators and founding members of Control Shift, a creative and critical digital arts programme. She has a UCL-accredited service design qualification, was part of the first Design Thinking for Audience Development programme run by Audience Development Agency 2019, and is a Clore ‘Emerging Leaders’ alumna.

Knowle West Media Centre Presents

Martha is co-hosting a session with Clara Collett and Fiona Dowling that showcases a range of KWMC’s projects including Forms of Intelligence, Maker CityKWMC: The Factory, and We Can Make.

Through tangible examples and some quick-fire creative exercises, delegates will gain an insight into how an arts and co-design approach can help create responsible tech.
