Dancing with the trouble of AI
We are responsible innovation creative practitioners from IsITethical? Exchange, working with performance art, aikido, sci-fi and street dance to choreograph a ritual in which each movement embodies an ethical principle for innovating in AI.
Inspired by Donna Haraway and ritual design, together we will embrace the magical, illogical, delightful and laughable to inspire healthier and response-able AI. We will rehearse with our bodies, rituals for anticipating, noticing, and addressing ethical tensions — to nurture a mindset of collaborative creativity and radical care.
You don’t need to be able to dance, but you will need video on and space to move.
Session structure
- Ethical Ritual (20 minutes)
- Break (5 minutes)
- Sharing Circle (30 minutes) — more about us and our experience of doing ethics through design and art practice. You are coming to a workshop, the idea is that you leave with a network!
What you will take away from this session
This experience introduces you to playful and collaborative methods of design research and art thinking approaches, to explore social, ethical and more-than-human implications, embracing complexity and interdependency of what it means to be human in data-driven worlds.
It’s not just about the duty of data management, privacy, justice, sustainability, inclusion and diversity, but beyond that, the ability to respond to uncertainty and collaboratively make space for ongoing critical reflection and philosophical questioning.
